A red door is such a classic look. But did you know a red door has several meanings? In Feng Shui, a red door means Welcome. -- A welcoming energy. The Chinese consider red to be the lucky and a sacred color. Many doors are painted with a fresh coat of red just before Chinese New Year to invite good luck and happiness. In Ireland, a red door is supposed to ward off ghosts and evil spirits. A red door also has Biblical meaning. It is symbolic of the blood rubbed on doors so that the Angel of Death would pass over the owner's home. A home with red on the door was protected. Many Churches have their doors painted red. It's symbolic for the protection of God. Supposedly red doors were used as part of the Underground Railroad, and homes with red doors were "safe houses". Albert Einstein even painted his door red! This was because he couldn't recognize his house without it. Lastly, painting your front door red means you are debt free!! This first started in Scotland. When someone paid off their home, they would announce it to the world by painting the front door red.
