Description
Dentzel Looff Antique Carousel | Fine Art Photograph by Colleen Kammerer ~
When carousels were in their heyday during the early 20th Century, there were approximately 5,000 of the "vintage" carousels (Pre-Depression era carousels) built, carved and assembled by hand.
After the Great Depression, carousel makers began using other materials and molds as cost savings measures.
Today, the Dentzel Carousel is one of only approximately 150 vintage carousels still in operation in the United States. And at about 25 feet tall, 54 feet wide and 51,000 pounds and featuring a Wurlitzer Military Band Organ in its center - This carousel, without question, is one of the grandest ever made! Its fate now is uncertain as it goes up for auction this fall. (2014)

Nice work and Congratulations on your recent sale! Cool picture. Our town is working hard to get a Carousel going in Butte Montana.
