John Witherspoon - Statue | Fine Art Photograph by Colleen Kammerer ~
John Witherspoon was the sixth president of the College of New Jersey (now called Princeton University), and served for 25 years. He was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Before him, the college consisted of one building called Nassau Hall, but many new buildings were added during his presidency. After seeing those buildings springing up, he came with the word "Campus."
The majestic statue of John Witherspoon, resides on the east side of East Pyne, facing the University Chapel.
