Remains of the DAy metal print by Colleen Kammerer. Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The high gloss of the aluminum sheet complements the rich colors of any image to produce stunning results.

The setting sunlight casts an orange glow over the remains of the concrete ship, creating the perfect perch for eight seagulls.
The sign reads:
"S.S Atlantus - Remains of experimental concrete ship. One of twelve built during World War I. Proven impractical after several Trans-Atlantic trips because of weight. Broke loose during storm (June 1926) went aground. Attempts to free her were futile."
The goal of the US Shipping Board was to "increase the merchant fleet by building concrete-hull ships instead of the conventional metal-hull because of the steel shortage created by the war."
All 12 concrete ships (four cargo and eight oil tankers) came to just as ignominious an end as the Atlantus They either ran aground, ran into something, or suffered irreparable damage in storms.
